Stephen Crockett

Stephen’s role at Falcon: Geotechnical Engineer

What did you want to be when you grew up?
I was really into rocks and minerals as a kid and thought I would grow up to be a geologist or a gemologist. I still have a pretty extensive rock collection.

What is your favorite thing to do?
I love cooking. It’s the perfect mixture of science and art where I can creatively express my ideas to blend flavor profiles and cooking techniques from around the world to make something delicious.

Where is your favorite place to be?
The mountains. I find flat places boring. I really enjoy hiking through lush forests with running water to rock outcrops at mountain peaks with gorgeous views of the valley.

If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life what would it be?
Pizza. I’d get so fat if I ate it every day. But I could.

What do you enjoy most about working at Falcon?
I really love how close-knit everyone at Falcon is. I don’t feel intimidated to approach anyone in the company with a question or concern I might have, and everyone works to help each other out as a team.

“Stephen joined Falcon a little over a year ago as a Staff Professional with considerable experience in geotechnical investigation and design for a variety of clients, including NCDOT. Since bringing him on board, I have enjoyed working directly with Stephen on some very noteworthy and high profile NCDOT projects. I have been continually impressed with his ability to take minimal direction and apply his skills to new tasks or differing geological environments. Having just passed the PE examination, he is now ready to take the next step in his career, working closely with other production staff to develop, review, and deliver reports independently. When Stephen is not coordinating investigations and designing foundations, he can be found spending time with his wife and friends enjoying great food and live music or exploring the natural environment through hiking and rock climbing.” – Jeremy Hamm, PE, Geotechnical Services Manager
