Education: B.S. in Construction Engineering and Management, NC State University
Professional motto: Do the right thing always and stand firm by it.
I do what I do because: I love the legacy of many different projects I’ve worked on over the years, some of which are now local landmarks like the Nature Research Center in Raleigh. My daughter had classes in a building that I consulted on 15+ years ago. Another project I’ve been involved in is replacing Harrelson Hall at NC State – where I had classes many years ago.

Fun facts

My favorite inventions of all time: phone. Also the worst invention of all time: a Phone. Can’t get away from it now.
Where I see technology in 2060: we were all supposed to have flying cars by 2020. Maybe by then?
My hidden talent: I’m an excellent cook. From smoked brisket or pork BBQ to fine gourmet. If you are invited to my home, you will eat well.
You would be surprised to know:

  • I’m a US Navy Veteran and Life Member of both the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. I still keep up with guys I deployed with 25+ years ago and a group of us still gathers for reunions. It’s still a strong brotherhood.
  • I enjoy the challenge of long-distance target shooting, though I’m no sniper (yet).
  • I love to go surf fishing, especially when catching and not just fishing.

Best place on earth: the beach! Almost any beach will do, but we do love our home on the border of Carolina and Kure Beach and get there often.
I spend my free time: with my wife, 3 kids, 2 cats, and a dog. Two kids are in college with the last one not too far behind, so the house is getting more quiet. We love to spend time at the beach and travel when we can. My wife and I are checking items off our bucket list and keep adding more things to it.
