As we're now well into the second season on our new football field, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank Falcon for the invaluable assistance you provided on the project. As you recall, this project was on the tightest of delivery schedules where work could not begin until after the Spring Football Game on April 28, 2009 and had to be completed by July 1, 2009 in order to allow the turf adequate time to grow in prior to football season.

Construction of a sand-based natural grass NCAA Division I football field has tolerances that exceed most forms of construction. From the initial rough grading to the final laser-leveling grid of the root zone mix, quality control is the key in assuring the finished product meets the expectations of the coaching staff who expected this field to set the standard for the ACC. Adding to the complexity of the project, this field utilized artificial turf sidelines for durability in high traffic areas which created a multitude of challenges related to grading and the interface of the natural and artificial turf. The significant change of grade for the sand-based field also posed a challenge in having to make it fit within the existing stadium and subsurface utilities.

Falcon provide timely, proactive, team-oriented project management from start to finish including: initial design review, environmental permitting, construction material testing, project specific testing such as DNA tests for the turf, on-site construction administration, civil and structural design services, and final inspection and acceptance.
