As the sole geotechnical consultant for the Triangle Transit Authority Regional Rail system, Falcon provided comprehensive geotechnical investigation and engineering services, which included more than 1,000 standard penetration test (SPT) borings throughout the alignment and the preparation of more than 70 geotechnical engineering reports addressing the proposed track construction. Laboratory testing of soil and rock samples was performed throughout the alignment to determine engineering properties for the analysis. Falcon’s design services included: pavement design, bridge foundation design and retaining wall design. In addition, extensive coordination and permitting was required with all local railroad companies including: CSX, Norfolk Southern and North Carolina Railroad.
