In June of 1999 the General Assembly passed initiatives removing conflict of interest criteria as a road block to the use of Third Party Code Enforcement Officials. Further, the General Assembly added verbiage to statute 153A‐353 requiring specific credentials for those who may perform Third Party Inspections. These inspections provided by a third party may be utilized in lieu of inspections performed by the local code enforcement department.
