Robert Lane

Robert’s role at Falcon: Geotechnical Staff Professional

Tell us something that might surprise us about you?
I am currently working towards my private pilot license, and even have some solo flight time accomplished.

Tell us about what you enjoy doing outside of work.
Outside of work, I am into just about everything. I enjoy riding motorcycles, playing video games, shooting, and making/building things.

What is the one thing you couldn’t live without?
One thing I couldn’t live without is tools. I am always fixing (breaking) something.

Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?
The best places I have traveled to were New Mexico and Colorado. For field camp last summer, we spent a month in that area learning how to work in the field and exploring new ground.

What do you enjoy most about working at Falcon?
I enjoy accomplishing new things on a daily basis with a great team to learn from. Being new to the field, a team that has the skill and patience to educate me is very valuable.

“Robert is the newest addition to the Geotechnical group here at Falcon. He started part time in January 2017 as he completed his Geology Degree at NCSU and promptly joined Falcon as a full time Geotechnical Professional after graduating in the spring. In his short time here he has quickly learned to independently plan and coordinate field investigations, manage field operations and classify soils and rock, assign and review laboratory analyses, prepare field data packages for geotechnical reports, and assist with environmental field services. Robert’s personal investment in making projects run continuously and smoothly, his “whatever it takes” attitude, and desire to constantly expand his knowledge and capabilities will continue to be an asset as he builds experience. When he is not out exploring project sites, he enjoys all kinds of motorsports – 2 wheels, 4 wheels, on road, and off road.” – Jeremy Hamm, PE, Geotechnical Services Manager
